West Ham fans react as Tottenham reportedly in talks for Nikola Milenkovic
Tottenham are reportedly in talks to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic. The Serb has caught the eye, but Tottenham are not the only London club to take a look. West Ham are also keen on Milenkovic, and Hammers fans are worried Tottenham are about to take a lead.
Milenkovic, 23, was excellent for Fiorentina last season. The 6ft 5in colossus remained one of the first names on the La Viola team sheet – clocking up 37 appearances throughout 2020-21. In four years since his move from Partizan Belgrade, he has played a huge 133 times for Fiorentina.
Now, TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Fabio Paratici is in talks to land Milenkovic in case a deal for Cristian Romero falls through. Milenkovic could even come in alongside Romero. In June, CalcioMercato said Milenkovic is still a target for West Ham – after a bid last summer.
What have West Ham fans said about Tottenham targeting Milenkovic?
Hammers fans are frustrated, on the whole, at the moment. With the club set to compete in the Europa League, David Moyes is yet to get any signings over the line. West Ham have even lost numerous players – including Fabian Balbuena, Jesse Lingard and Felipe Anderson – and are yet to replace them.
Their squad was light at best, anyway. The Hammers desperately need additions before the start of the campaign but nothing seems forthcoming. A centre-back is certainly required. Milenkovic would be perfect. But West Ham fans are seething as Tottenham reportedly close in on Milenkovic.
That is, after Fabrizio Romano also said on Twitter that Milenkovic is available for just £12.75million. His contract is up next summer.
