Report: Tottenham enter talks to sign 23-year-old defender, in case Romero deal falls through
Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic. The Serbian rock has been identified as a possible alternative to Cristian Romero, in case talks for the Argentine fall through. The player is keen on a move to London.
Milenkovic, 23, has thrown himself onto the Tottenham radar after a very solid 2020-21 campaign with La Viola. A 28-time Serbia international, Milenkovic clocked up 37 appearances in all competitions for Fiorentina. Now, Spurs are in talks to sign him – from Gennaro Gattuso’s new side.
The report claims that Milenkovic a target in case a move to sign Romero from Atalanta falls through. However, the Copa America winner looks set for Spurs. Talks are ongoing, though, for Milenkovic, who is keen on a move to London. His contract is due to expire in the summer of 2022.
