Michail Antonio is about to enter into advanced talks with West Ham United over a new contract at the London Stadium, according to a report from The Sun (12/12; page 64).
Antonio has taken his career to incredible heights with the Hammers. He went into this campaign having scored 20 goals across the previous two Premier League seasons.

And that number would surely be considerably higher were it not for injury. The 31-year-old only made 43 starts in the top flight in that time.
Antonio has six in 14 this time around, helping David Moyes’s men put themselves right in the mix for the top four. They also have the knockout stages of the Europa League to look forward to in the new year.
There is however, a little uncertainty surrounding Antonio’s future. He is currently set to be a free agent at the end of next season.

Admittedly, West Ham still find themselves in a strong position. The Athletic reported this week that the Irons have the option to ensure that he is tied down until 2024.
However, it would now appear that the Hammers are keen to keep Antonio for longer. The Sun (12/12; page 64) reports that West Ham are ready to hold advanced talks with Antonio over a new contract.
Presumably, the discussions will see the forward stay until 2025 at least. Interestingly, he would be 35 by the time such a deal would expire.
West Ham agreeing new contract with Michail Antonio will provide timely boost in brilliant season for Hammers
In fairness, there is little reason to believe that Antonio – who earns £70,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – cannot continue to make a major impact in the Premier League for some time yet.
A striker usually needs to adapt their game as their pace starts to desert them. But Antonio’s game has rarely been about pace.
He is a nightmare for opposition defenders. And there looks to be every chance that he will continue to cause problems for years to come.
West Ham are seemingly keen to ensure that Antonio causes those problems while wearing claret and blue.
