TBR Football can exclusively reveal that West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers showed interest in signing Jordan Henderson from Ajax.

The Liverpool icon left Anfield for Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq in 2023, but his adventure in the Middle East didn’t last six months.

Henderson left Saudi and joined Dutch giants Ajax 12 months ago. He has been a really important player for them and was even named as their captain.

Now, we can reveal that Henderson wants to leave Ajax.

Wolves and West Ham showed interest in Jordan Henderson

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Henderson is ready to leave Ajax before the end of the transfer window.

We can confirm that the 34-year-old is looking to move to Ligue 1 giants Monaco, who have agreed terms with the 34-year-old on a deal taking him to 2026.

Henderson has asked Ajax to let him leave on a free transfer before Monday’s deadline, but it remains to be seen if they will sanction his exit.

TBR can further reveal that Henderson has attracted interest from the Premier League. West Ham United and Wolves both showed an interest in bringing him back to England.

However, as it stands, we are told that Henderson has his heart set on a move to the Principality, but it remains to be seen if Ajax will be willing to sanction his exit on a free transfer.

Henderson’s current contract at Ajax expires in the summer of 2026.

How Henderson has fared since joining Ajax

Henderson has been at Ajax for a whole year now.

The Premier League and Champions League winner has played 44 times for the Dutch giants so far in all competitions.

Henderson, who Jurgen Klopp called a ‘one-man pressing machine’ in 2023, hasn’t scored a goal yet for Ajax, but he has picked up eight assists in all competitions.

Ajax are currently second in the Eredivisie table, just four points behind league leaders PSV, who have played a game more.

Henderson has played a part in all but two league games this season, and his leadership has been key for Ajax in their pursuit of the Dutch league title.
