'We're cursed', 'terrible': Some Arsenal react to what they've heard about William Saliba

Some Arsenal fans were reacting after William Saliba earned a call-up to the France squad for the Tokyo Olympics.

The nation confirmed that the 20-year-old will form part of the 18-man squad heading to Japan for the games. Les Blues have been drawn in the same group as the hosts, South Africa and Mexico.

Reports claimed that Mikel Arteta would assess the Frenchman over the course of pre-season prior to the start of next season. However, his call-up means he’s likely to miss the majority of pre-season and the start of the next campaign.

Despite signing back in 2019, the France youth international is yet to make a first-team appearance. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Nice in Ligue 1, making 22 appearances.

His future at the club has come under threat with Arsenal closing in on a move for Brighton’s Ben White.
