'Well done': Neal Maupay very impressed with 'outstanding' Everton youngster after brilliant work in training

Everton’s mid-season tour of Australia is nearly coming to an end as they prepare to face Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Toffees face the A-League side tomorrow morning, and shared a video of the squad training ahead of the game.

Manager Frank Lampard is missing a number of his key players for various reasons.

The likes of Conor Coady and Amadou Onana are at the World Cup with their respective nations.

Lampard is hoping the break with give several of his players a chance to overcome their various injuries.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up a shoulder injury just before the World Cup break.

Midfielder Tom Davies was sent home from Everton’s tour with a knee injury, while Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure both hobbled off against Celtic.

This has given Lampard the chance to use some of Everton’s younger players an opportunity.

Midfielder Isaac Price certainly seems to be making an impact during his time Down Under.

He was described as ‘outstanding’ by goalkeeper Asmir Begovic against Celtic and Lampard thought he was the best player on the pitch.

And now, Neal Maupay is the latest Everton player to be impressed with Price after his performance in training.

Maupay impressed by Price in training

In the video shared on Everton’s official YouTube channel, the squad are playing in a small-sided match.

Price plays the ball out wide to Nathan Patterson, before checking his run to find himself in space for the return pass.

He then takes a touch out of feet, and sprays the ball to Anthony Gordon on the opposite flank while coming under pressure.

The winger then takes one touch before finishing past Andy Lonergan in goal.

Neal Maupay then turns around and applauds the 19-year-old, shouting, “Well done Isaac!”.

With Doucoure injured, and Onana and Idrissa Gueye in Qatar, Price should get another chance to impress tomorrow morning.

He really impressed Everton’s coaches during pre-season, and they want him to sign a new deal.

If he can’t break into the first-team, a loan move in January wouldn’t be the worst idea for the teenager.

Maupay was just the latest Everton player to be impressed with Price.

Judging by his intensity in the clip, he could end up being a very exciting player for the Toffees.

He can look at how fellow academy graduate Gordon has developed for inspiration on how to break into the first-team.
