‘Weird’: Mauricio Pochettino now makes claim about Harry Kane at his press conference today

Chelsea take on Tottenham this weekend and it will be the first fixture between the two for some time not to feature a certain Harry Kane.

Kane’s move to Bayern Munich in the summer means he won’t be coming up against his former boss Mauricio Pochettino, a manager he owes so much to from earlier in his career.

As we know, Kane is smashing the goals in over in Munich and both Chelsea and Tottenham would love a player of that ilk in their current squads, with Pochettino particularly needing a striker.

And speaking to the press ahead of the game this weekend, Pochettino has had his say on what it will be like facing a Kane-less Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino makes Harry Kane claim before Tottenham v Chelsea

Speaking to the press about Kane and Tottenham in general, the Chelsea boss admitted that there’ll be and element of strangeness to not seeing the England skipper involved.

“It’s going to be weird seeing many years and Harry Kane is not going to be there. He’s a big part of the history of Tottenham and it will be weird not to see him,” Pochettino said.

Of course, deep down, Pochettino will be glad not to see Kane lining up for Spurs, in pure football terms anyway.

Spurs are flying high without Kane and Pochettino must prepare his Chelsea side for the fresh challenge of facing the likes of Son and Maddison instead.

Chelsea defenders will be happy

No defender likes playing against Harry Kane so the Chelsea players will be happy that the England striker did skip off to Germany in the summer.

Kane’s record in the Premier League was sensational and the Blues players will be happy they don’t have to deal with him dropping deep and pulling defenders all over.

Of course, Son, Maddison and Kulusevski bring their own challenges.

But any team not featuring Harry Kane is not going to carry the same threat and Pochettino will hope his players can take advantage of that.
