Free-kick specialist James Ward-Prowse has been talking about all things Premier League and believes James Maddison doesn’t get enough credit.
Ward-Prowse has built a reputation for himself as one of the very best dead-ball specialists in the league. However, as we know, the Premier League is filled with talent in that respect.
The likes of Kevin De Bruyne are often lauded for their ability over a set-piece. However, speaking to Sky Sports, Ward-Prowse believes Leicester’s Maddison is often overlooked

“I have to say James Maddison. I watch a lot of clips of goalkeepers and what they’re doing and I always see James Maddison taking free kicks and making them make saves with good efforts on goal. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves in that respect,” Ward-Prowse said on Sky Sports.
Of course, Maddison’s form for Leicester has seen him become a man in demand. Newcastle are thought to be watching on closely with a view to making a move in January. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also fans, and have been credited with looking at making a £60m bid in 2023.
Certainly, Maddison’s dead-ball ability makes him stand out. And if he can carry on like he has been doing this season, then that big move might well be close.
TBR’s View: Maddison’s free-kicks worth £20m alone
When you look back at Leicester paying just £20m for Maddison back in 2018, you have to say it’s been an absolute steal.
Maddison has been superb since signing for the Foxes. Those free-kicks he scores and creates from are worth the £20m fee alone and it’s little surprise to see them valuing him so highly now.
Both Newcastle and Spurs become better teams with James Maddison in them. If they can sign him, then it will make a huge difference going into next season.
