Video: Tottenham share what Romero did in the tunnel against Arsenal after FT

Tottenham have uploaded a video on their Instagram page of what injured defender Cristian Romero did in the tunnel after beating Arsenal.

Romero was a shock injury absentee when the team news was announced and that could have been a big blow for Spurs.

But Davinson Sanchez came in and produced a performance that Antonio Conte declared after the game he was very happy with.

Romero is actually now out for the rest of the season. That could be a big issue but Spurs need a performance like Thursday’s from Sanchez in their two remaining games.

That is a shame for Romero in a maiden season in English football which has been interrupted frequently by injury issues.

Spurs and Conte will hope that they clear up with a full pre-season and a fitness regime under the former Inter manager.

But he has established himself as a fan favourite and a superstar in the making with his fiery determination and quality on the ball.

He was pictured celebrating the win with Rodrigo Bentancur, sharing the passion of the players involved and matching the desire of the fans.

Romero is a Champions League standard defender but he is now relying on his defensive colleagues to try and get Spurs over the line and into the top four.

It would be frustrating if these injury issues plague his time at Tottenham, because he could genuinely develop into a really top central defender.

He will hope to have two more victories to celebrate between now and the end of the season and then it is just a case of hoping for a favour from Newcastle or Everton.
