Report: Orta goes and holds two meetings with Leeds player’s agent, recent developments impacting on outcome

According to The Athletic, Leeds United supremo Victor Orta has already met with Deco twice regarding the future of star winger, Raphinha.

Reports in recent days have suggested that a move to Barcelona is very much on the cards for Raphinha. Despite Leeds’ struggles in the league, the Brazilian has been outstanding again and has since taken his form onto the international stage.

A host of English clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, are also said to be keen. At the moment, it’s widely known that Raphinha has a release clause in his contract should Leeds go down. The White are keen for him to pen fresh terms, however, and according to The Athletic, have already met up with his agent twice.

It’s claimed very little has been said or done since that meeting and Raphinha is said to be well aware of the interest from other clubs. The Brazilian is in a strong position and will be able to use that interest to either generate massive new terms, or push through a move.

In positive news for Leeds, Raphinha is said to have been impressed with new manager, Jesse Marsch. That could well help Leeds’ cause, who will be desperate to keep the winger.

TBR’s View: Raphinha Holds The Cards Over Leeds

It doesn’t happen too often but you feel with this one that it is the player who holds all the aces. If Raphinha wants to go, then you feel a deal could be done quickly.

The positive element is that Raphinha – who Paul Merson branded ‘unbelievable’ recently – is happy with Marsch so far. As a new manager, that’s all he can really do in terms of impressing his new squad.

But should Barcelona actually put a good offer on the table, then you get the impression Raphinha might well fancy the move to Spain to such a huge club.
