‘Very well’: Journalist details positive Edu talks with 23-year-old’s agent over Arsenal interest

Goal correspondent Charles Watts has claimed in a video on his Youtube channel that Arsenal talks are progressing well in their bid to sign Ben White.

Arsenal’s technical director Edu has reportedly held discussions with the defender’s agent that have gone “very well”.

Additionally, it appears that the Gunners are confident they can sign the 23-year-old this summer.

“Arsenal have had a bid now rejected for Ben White by Brighton… As far as I understand it, Arsenal are not too discouraged,” Journalist Watts reports.

“They think they can get this deal done for Ben White. He is very aware of the interest. I understand that he’s keen on a move to Arsenal.

“His agent has been speaking with Edu, those talks have been going very, very well about how Arsenal see him as part of the future. He’s been to London Colney, his agent, and met with Edu. Talks between the clubs are continuing.”

Football London, as relayed by The Boot Room, claims that Arsenal are planning a second bid of around £45million for Brighton star White after an opening offer was turned down.

It is understood that a £40million approach for the centre-back was rejected by Brighton. However, they are not giving up the chase, so plan a new bid for a player valued closer to the £50million mark.

Arsenal should fork up the extra £10m for Ben White

If reports are true, Arsenal are only £10million away from Brighton’s asking price. They should definitely meet that fee if Brighton refuse to lower it.

The ball-playing centre-back is currently at Euro 2020 because he was drafted into the squad after an injury. But, he’s receiving recognition after a solid debut season in the Premier League.

He was an ever-present in the Brighton XI during the 2020/21 campaign, and his reputation is soaring. A loan spell working under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United the previous year is another big factor in him being the player he is right now.

For Arsenal, they need an authoritative figure at the back.

White looks like the modern day centre-half who’s perfect. For example, he’s composed on the ball and so smart with his positioning.

It seems very positive for Arsenal in their transfer pursuit.
