Report: Antonio Conte thinks Tottenham star Ivan Perisic is one of the best in the world

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte believes summer signing Ivan Perisic is one of the best players in the world in his position, claims Football London.

Spurs suffered their first defeat of the season against Sporting Lisbon this week, and Conte was not a happy man. His European record is awful, but he believes that the addition of players like Perisic, who has a ton of experience in the Champions League, will really benefit his side.

Tottenham broke their transfer policy and signed Perisic this summer. The Croatian, who is 33 years old now, would never have been an option for Daniel Levy before, but Conte was adamant that he wanted him.

The Italian got his wish in the end. Unlike Inter Milan, Spurs met Perisic’s £98,000-a-week demands, and the Champions League winner penned a two-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Conte was absolutely delighted to get Perisic. The Spurs boss, according to the report, believes that the Croatian ‘is one of the world’s best’ in his left-wing-back role thanks to his ability in the final third and decision making.

The Italian likes Perisic so much that he has reportedly asked Fabio Paratici to go and find him a similar player on the opposite side, where Emerson Royal hasn’t looked great.

Perisic has played a part in all of Tottenham’s eight games so far this season, and he has barely put a foot wrong. He’ll be integral if Spurs go on to achieve something special this term.

TBR View:

Tottenham really had a fantastic summer transfer window. Conte demanded at the end of last season that he wanted to be backed in the market, and Levy well and truly obliged.

Spurs spent over £150 million in the summer to bring in seven new players. Richarlison was their marquee signing after Levy agreed a deal worth £60 million (Sky Sports) to bring him in from Everton.

However, Perisic, who came in on a free transfer, is arguably Spurs’ best signing of the window. He is absolutely incredible at what he does, and his experience could really help everyone else at the club take their game to the next level.

It’s no surprise that Conte loves Perisic, and we’re seeing now that Spurs fans absolutely adore him too.
