Mikel Arteta gets a lot of credit for the job he’s done at Arsenal, but behind every great coach is a great coaching staff.

Indeed, Arteta is backed by a group of fantastic coaches at Arsenal, and one of those is Carlos Cuesta.

The 28-year-old Spaniard is a key member of Arteta’s team, and his good work at Arsenal has now seen him linked with a move to become Norwich City’s new first-team manager.

Speaking on the Arseblog Podcast, Charles Watts has been discussing Cuesta and his development as a coach, and he says that he’s not surprised to see these links emerge as people within the game rate the 28-year-old very highly.

Carlos Cuesta is highly rated

Watts shared what he knows about the Arsenal coach.

“He is and the players really like Carlos, he’s very popular behind the scenes. It doesn’t surprise me that these links are going to start, he’s very highly rated and highly talked about within the game. He’s only 28, that is young to walk into your first job, we will see what happens with it,” Watts said.

Exciting

This is quite exciting to hear.

At the age of just 28, Cuesta is one of the youngest coaches in the game right now, and he has so much time to hone his craft and grow as a footballing mind.

The fact that he’s so highly rated at this age bodes well, and he could well be the next great manager in football.

Who knows? 20 years from now Cuesta will still be seen as quite a young manager, and perhaps he will be good enough to one day be in contention to return to Arsenal as the first-team gaffer rather than just a member of the coaching staff.
