'Very good': Antonio Conte suggests Tottenham have a 22-year-old player with huge potential right now
Antonio Conte has suggested to Sky Italia that Tottenham Hotspur have a player in Dejan Kulusevski with huge potential right now.
Kulusevski has been ruled out of Tottenham’s last three games after suffering an injury while on international duty with Sweden.
Spurs have missed the 22-year-old’s creativity but he is now back in training at Hotspur Way.
The Swede has been a revelation since making the loan switch from Juventus back in January. Kulusevski has been directly involved in 17 goals in just 29 appearances for Spurs.
But Conte says the player is aiming to become even better and thinks he has huge potential.
Conte suggests Kulusevski has huge potential
Speaking to Sky Italia, Conte claims that Kulusevski actually made his recent injury worse by completing 90 minutes for Sweden.
“Kulusevski had a problem with Sweden and also made it worse by staying on the pitch until the end,” he said.
“For tomorrow I absolutely do not think I want to risk it because losing it would be devastating for us, it is doing great things, it has a lot of potential.
“He is a crack and has a great desire to improve, he aims to become an important player. It was a very good investment for Tottenham.”
The Italian boss was also full of praise for fellow January signing Rodrigo Bentancur.
“He and Bentancur guaranteed us a nice leap in quality last year,” he added.
“Coming from Italy they were more tactically prepared, they helped us a lot to hit the Champions League goal, something miraculous if you think about where we started from.”
Both Kulusevski and Bentancur settled seamlessly in north London after making the switch from Turin.
But Kulusevski seemed to be the missing piece of the puzzle for Spurs as he compliments Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son so well.
Conte will be delighted to have the winger back in action this week. The Italian revealed that he won’t be ready for tonight’s clash with Frankfurt, but he will be available for the Everton game this weekend.
