Journalist Ben Jacobs has responded to a Leeds United fan on Twitter, insisting that the club are working very hard behind the scenes to sign a new striker.

The Elland Road faithful are starting to become a little concerned that Victor Orta may be done in the market.

Leeds have enjoyed a really encouraging window. Of course, they lost their two best players with Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips leaving. But they appear to have really strengthened the squad.

Nevertheless, it does appear that they ideally need more. And with that, plenty of supporters were excited at the weekend when Jacobs suggested that Leeds are expecting to enjoy a busy week.

He mentioned a host of names who are on the club’s radar. But, as Sunday’s fixture with Chelsea approaches, Leeds are still awaiting their outfield first-team signing since Luis Sinisterra’s move in early July.

The wait prompted one supporter to question Jacobs’ claim that it is going to be a busy week. And in response, the journalist has insisted that plenty is going on – even if the supporters are yet to see the fruits of the labour…

Of course, just because Leeds have not announced a signing, that does not mean that they are not working hard on potential deals.

It does appear that Leeds are keeping their options open. If the right player comes along, they will make their move. And if the window shuts without any further additions, the Leeds hierarchy are content with what they have.

Had they taken six points from their opening two games, that stance would be more understandable. But after failing to beat Southampton at 2-0 up, it is a lot harder to work out what kind of season Leeds will enjoy if they do no more in the market.
