Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is reportedly undergoing tests to see whether he is carrying an injury.

This is according to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, who took to Twitter with an update on the Spurs star.

Romero missed matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth either side of the Champions League draw with Sporting CP.

And ahead of Tottenham’s meeting with Marseille, Cristian Stellini said the 24-year-old was “not available”.

Antonio Conte’s assistant didn’t elaborate on Romero’s fitness at his press conference.

The Argentina international was apparently carrying muscle fatigue.

But now, Edul has reported that Romero is “undergoing tests to determine whether his muscle discomfort is an injury.”

If the report is true, Romero would be the second Spurs ‘superstar‘ currently undergoing tests.

Tottenham are already assessing Son Heung-min after he was forced off the field against Marseille.

‘We have to wait for a medical assessment’

The Spurs forward collided with Chancel Mbemba when challenging for a header.

Son won the 50/50 duel but came off worse and looked in serious discomfort as he received lengthy medical attention.

The 30-year-old, who had taken a shoulder to the jaw, eventually rose to his feet.

However, the Tottenham physios were unwilling to let him continue after concussion checks.

More worryingly, Son appeared to struggle walking off the pitch and was assisted by Spurs’ medical team.

Stellini told Sky Sports post-match: “In this moment we don’t know. We have to wait for a medical assessment.

“Sonny feels better now. I saw him in the dressing room, he celebrated with us.

“In this moment we don’t know. We have to wait for a medical assessment and we have to wait until tomorrow.

“We are not sure if he is concussed. It is Son’s face. His eye is a bit swollen.”

After the elation of Tuesday night’s victory over Marseille, there are now concerns over two of Tottenham’s stars.

With Liverpool coming up on Sunday, Antonio Conte will hope that both Romero and Son aren’t badly injured.
