One Liverpool player is using this summer’s pre-season to decide whether he wants to stay at the club.
The Arne Slot era has begun, and the Dutchman has been hard at work behind the scenes. He has been getting his new side up to pace for the new season and has flown them out to the United States for their pre-season tour.
Liverpool are scheduled to take on Real Betis late on Friday night before back-to-back games against fellow English giants Arsenal and Manchester United.
Slot will be keen to get a few wins under his belt after losing a behind-closed-doors friendly against Preston North End. That could be key to retaining one of his key players.
Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future depends on pre-season under Arne Slot
Mohamed Salah’s future has been a hot topic of debate for several months.
The Egypt international has entered the final year of his Liverpool contract, and there has been a lot of speculation over whether he will stay at the club.
Things have been quiet on that front in recent weeks, which suggested to many that Salah will stay. Reports have even claimed that Liverpool have decided not to sell Salah.
However, GiveMeSport have now shed some light on the situation.
The report has revealed that ‘Salah is using pre-season to get a proper gauge of how life will be in the post-Klopp era’ under Slot.
The winger is focused on seeing how things will shape up under their new boss, but if the coming weeks don’t impress him enough, he could ask to leave.
Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad ‘initially conceded that it would be almost impossible’ to sign Salah this summer, but they are now on high alert.
The outlet claims that Al-Ittihad are ‘planning to pounce if it emerges that Salah is unhappy and does not foresee silverware being on the cards under Slot’.
Liverpool, however, are desperate to keep their star man for the upcoming Premier League season.

Liverpool have an easy decision to make
Every Liverpool fan would love nothing more than to have Salah in their squad for another season.
The Egyptian, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Alan Shearer on the Rest is Football podcast, is undoubtedly their best player, and he has won them several games over the years.
However, with less than a year left on his contract and huge interest from Saudi Arabia, selling Salah for big money now rather than losing him for nothing in 2025 is the best decision.
That would also give Liverpool more money to invest in what’s left of this summer’s transfer window – the Reds are yet to sign a single player since Slot took charge of the club.
It remains to be seen what Liverpool will do with Salah, but we think cashing in on him now makes the most sense.
