Brazilian World Cup winners Cafu and Roberto Carlos think that Tottenham forward Son Heung-min is better than Erling Haaland.

Haaland has joined Manchester City this summer, bringing to an end the transfer saga which has dragged on for months once it was clear he was leaving Borussia Dortmund.

But in a YouTube video filmed at Soccer Aid, Cafu and Carlos both ranked Son ahead of Haaland when asked to judge who is best between that duo and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

David James also ranked Son ahead of Haaland, after a season in which the South Korean shared the Golden Boot with Salah.

Son ranked higher than Haaland

James said: “Mo Salah has repeatedly done it and done it and done it.

“Son, this season, has been incredible and Haaland is still a young pup, with tremendous, tremendous potential.”

Meanwhile, fellow pundit Paul Merson wrote for SportsKeeda that he thinks City should have signed Son’s Tottenham teammate Harry Kane ahead of Haaland.

Merson said: “He’s big, strong, electric for his size and it goes without saying that he’s an unreal finisher, but as a Manchester City player, he won’t have grass to run into because teams usually put ten men in front of the ball!

“This is where the test of all tests begins, because we’ve seen top strikers failing to hit the ground running for the so-called bigger teams in the Premier League.

“It’ll be about how quickly he adapts to English football, but all I’m saying is that his success isn’t as much of a foregone conclusion as others are making it out to be. For Manchester City, my personal opinion is that Harry Kane would have been a better signing for them.

“Age isn’t really on his side, but he’s got everything and Manchester City have a bottomless pit of money, so I’d have taken him instead.”
