Report: ‘Writing on the wall’ for Manchester City and Erling Haaland deal with club convinced they’ve got him

Manchester City are closer than anyone to landing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund with The Independent’s Miguel Delaney claiming that ‘the writing is on the wall’ when it comes to a deal.

The Norwegian hot-shot is the number one striker in the European market this summer. Haaland has a release-clause that comes into effect this summer, and City are ready to pounce. Indeed, some already believe that City have had Haaland over to The Etihad for talks.

And writing in his weekly Reading The Game column for The Independent, Miguel Delaney believes that Haaland to Manchester City has an inevitable feel about it. He writes how City ‘undeniably’ lead the race for Haaland and that numerous people – or virtually everyone as he puts it – have accepted Haaland to City is a go.

The striker has been in explosive form ever since bursting onto the scene with Dortmund. He has a brilliant 8o goals in 82 games for the German side, with 23 from 23 just this season.

TBR’s View: Haaland To City Changes The Landscape

City tried to get Harry Kane all last summer and that was a move everyone thought would take Pep’s side to the next level. If they get Haaland, it will do the same and more.

Haaland is world-class already and it’s hard to imagine just how many goals he’ll score with City’s attacking players around him. Put simply, it’s hard to see anything but City dominance if they sign him.

Thierry Henry once called Haaland ‘lethal’ and ‘ridiculous’ in the same sentence. That pretty much sums the striker up, and City fans can start to get excited.
