Troy Deeney has suggested Tottenham to move for another Premier League attacker amid rumours that Spurs are in talks to sign Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham have increased their efforts to sign Solanke in recent days, with the AFC Bournemouth star having a release clause worth £65m as the north London side look to add to their forward ranks in a big way this summer.
With Bournemouth still hoping to keep Solanke, the battle to sign the former Liverpool striker will be an interesting one to keep an eye on, with the Chelsea academy graduate coming off his best year yet as a Premier League attacker.
Yet former Watford captain Deeney thinks Tottenham should be moving for another striker this summer.

Tottenham told to bid for Ivan Toney instead of Solanke
Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the suggestion that Ivan Toney might be more suited to Tottenham than Solanke, with the Brentford striker a constant fixture in the Premier League rumour mill this summer.
Deeney said on Tottenham’s reported interest in Solanke: “I’m not sure. I think Solanke works better at somewhere like Arsenal, where he has to be on the end of something. I think if you are going to spend £65m, which is the reported fee, I would be expecting, if they can get him, to go for Toney.
“He would have Son running in behind, he lets Maddison come off the front. I just think if you are going to put £65m [down], why not just test the waters with Brentford? Leave it on the table for a week. But Dominic is good, he is someone who has learned the hard way.
“He was at Liverpool and then came away. But whenever I watch Dominic, and I think he’s a good player, I still don’t see the killer in him. He has scored a lot of goals, but I don’t think it’s everything for him to score a goal.

Toney would be better suited for Spurs over Solanke
With Phil Foden lauding Toney as ‘unbelievable’ this summer, it feels inevitable that the England international will be on the move somewhere before the closure of the transfer window this month.
Tottenham themselves have been strongly linked with Toney, and if the north London side are willing to pay £65m for Solanke, questions must be raised on why Spurs won’t make a similar play for the Brentford star.
Indeed, Toney’s style of play could work wonders for Tottenham, and with a better Premier League track record than Solanke, the stars could aline for the N7 giants to launch their own bid to sign the former Peterborough United striker.
