As ever, Chelsea have been busy in this summer transfer window.
It wouldn’t be transfer season without movement at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea have already been active.
Liam Delap has signed for the Blues, Jamie Gittens has joined Chelsea, while Joao Pedro has also come through the door in a £60m deal.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Troy Deeney has been discussing Pedro and what he could bring to Enzo Maresca’s side.
Deeney knows Pedro well from their time together at Watford, and he says that the general public are, by and large, wrong about Pedro and the type of person he is.

People are wrong about Joao Pedro
Deeney spoke about Pedro and this view that he’s a troublemaker behind the scenes.
Brighton fans warned Chelsea that Pedro has attitude issues, but according to Deeney that is a total misconception.
Deeney couldn’t say enough good things about Pedro, even tipping him to join Real Madrid or Barcelona at one point.
“He is all or nothing Joao, he’s an exceptional football player. The misconception is that he’s a troublemaker, he’s not that at all. At Chelsea now you’re going to see the real Joao Pedro. If he does well for two years there Real Madrid or Barcelona will come knocking, he’s an exceptional football player,” Deeney said.
Why Joao Pedro was dropped at Brighton
Deeney says that Pedro isn’t a troublemaker, but there was one notable incident this season involving the Brazilian.
Indeed, Pedro was dropped from the Brighton squad at the end of last season after a reported training ground altercation with Jan Paul van Hecke.
It’s unknown what happened with Pedro and Van Hecke, but Pedro was dropped by Brighton because of this issue with Fabian Hurzuler saying:
“With Joao we had a small issue in training, the type which isn’t uncommon from time to time in all football clubs. We dealt with it internally and the matter is closed.”
“Joao is an incredible football player, he’s a match-winner for us, he’s a great player and that’s why we invested in him.
“But there are principles that are non-negotiable and count for everyone – that everyone has to stick to – where we don’t make any compromises.
“Joao is still a young player. He will grow and I’m sure he will learn from this and come back stronger next season. I’m really looking forward to seeing him renewed and reinvigorated at his highest peak.”
Ultimately, Pedro would never play another game for Brighton after this incident as he was sold to Chelsea.
Deeney says that Pedro doesn’t often cause trouble, and he needs to keep his powder dry at his new club, otherwise, he’ll quickly fall out of favour.
