‘Tough viewing’: Leeds fans react to PL star’s display on Sunday

Conor Gallagher added to the misery Leeds United fans are currently feeling as the Whites’ summer target scored a stunning brace for Crystal Palace in their win over Everton on Sunday.

Gallagher was a player Marcelo Bielsa reportedly wanted to sign in the last window. In fact, some reports claimed that he was shown the training ground ahead of a potential loan move. However, he ultimately opted for a move to Selhurst Park instead.

It has been apparent for some time that Leeds would have almost definitely benefitted from landing the Chelsea star when they had the chance.

The Whites have endured problems in the middle of the park this season. Adam Forshaw has been superb since returning. But there remains a sense that Bielsa needs more options in midfield.

Their injury problems continue to hurt Leeds. Despite a superb performance, they left Chelsea empty-handed on Saturday. And their lack of depth and experience on the bench did not help their cause at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher meanwhile, went into Sunday’s clash with Everton having scored four goals and contributed three assists in the Premier League.

He went on to add two more goals. The second – which sealed the three points for the Eagles – was a stunner as he capitalised on a poorly-taken free-kick from the Toffees to find the top corner from outside the box.

Raphinha is the only Leeds player with more goals than the 21-year-old. So you can understand why many of the Leeds fans on Twitter are ruing not signing him in the summer.
