Tottenham are becoming increasingly frustrated in their attempts to sign Djed Spence and have all but given up hope of him being on the plane for pre-season this weekend.

Spurs and Middlesbrough are locked in talks to try and get a deal done for Spence. However, as yet, there is a gap in the valuations, said to be as much as £5m from the Middlesbrough end. And according to The Evening Standard, #there is no prospect of Spence being signed in time for this weekend.

Tottenham jet off to South Korea this weekend as they ramp up their preparations for the new season with a lucrative tour of the far eastern country. However, while Antonio Conte will take 30 players with him, Spence won’t be among the travelling party, barring a miracle.

Spence is thought to be keen on making the move to Spurs and with Nottingham Forest signing Neco Williams, it appears this is his big chance of a move to the Premier League. But Middlesbrough are digging their heels, and Steve Gibson wants around £20m for his man.

Tottenham are also signing Clement Lenglet but he too is expected to miss the tour due to visa issues.

TBR’s View: Spence Missing Pre-Season Tour Not Great For Spurs

This is a bit of a mess now for Tottenham really. It’s looked all along like Djed Spence would be signing so to not have him on board for pre-season is a bit of an odd one.

He’ll miss the chance to not only get to know his teammates, but also experience the big club feel of going on such a tour to the other side of the world. It would have been great prep for him for the new season.

Spurs fans, then, will be hoping their club can get a deal for Spence over the line ASAP.
