Tottenham Hotspur appear to have stepped up their preparations ahead of the January transfer window, with Spurs watching Morgan Gibbs-White in action for Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Morgan Gibbs-White was Forest’s hero at the City Ground, with his late strike settling their clash with Manchester United. It was his second goal of the campaign.
Certainly, his hit may have made Tottenham sit up and take notice.

The Daily Mail has reported that Spurs had the 23-year-old watched as they look to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Summer bid surely much more likely
In truth, it is hard to see Tottenham being able to get a move for Gibbs-White across the line in the coming weeks.
Forest are surely going to have absolutely no interest in selling the youngster. He became the club’s record signing when he made the move from Wolves for an initial £25 million.
And despite their win over Erik ten Hag’s side, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men remain in a bit of bother in the Premier League table. Certainly, it would send out a worrying statement if they sold one of their best players midway through the campaign.
Forest have been incredibly busy since sealing promotion. So they may perhaps be in a position where they need to look at some of the bigger bids which arrive for their players in January or the summer.
But it is going to take a huge sum to persuade them to part with Gibbs-White. Jermaine Jenas previously suggested that Gibbs-White is a ‘really special’ talent.
Tottenham would make a massive statement if they managed to tempt Forest into selling him in January. But surely, a bid is much more likely in the summer.
From Spurs’ perspective, hopefully the decision to take a closer look at Gibbs-White is a sign that they have big plans for the next few windows after a very good start to life under Ange Postecoglou.
