Report: Tottenham now ready to sign 'incredible' £51m player in January after Ten Hag wanted him this summer
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a move for Atletico Madrid winger, Yannick Carrasco, during the January window, according to reports.
Carrasco has been on the list of potential signings at Spurs for some time now. Reports over the summer claimed Carrasco was the subject of a late summer window move by the club. However, no deal ever materialised.
Further, Fabrizio Romano has also previously said that Carrasco was offered to Manchester United. The winger, though, remained in Spain along with the rest of Atletico’s talented starts.
However, The Express – which cites a report from Mundo Deportivo – claims that Carrasco has now been put up for sale by Atletico. And with that, Tottenham are said to be keen on doing a deal once again.
Carrasco will be seen by Antonio Conte as the ideal player to play in his wing-back positions. Like Ivan Perisic, he is capable on either side and can also play as a more attacking wide forward if needed too.
The 29-year-old has more than 50 caps for Belgium and could well feature in this winter’s World Cup. He’s won the Europa League and La Liga title while in Spain, further enhancing an impressive CV.
TBR’s View: Carrasco ticks a lot of boxes for Tottenham
When you think of Tottenham under Conte, you think of players who can play those wing-back roles. In Yannick Carrasco, they’d be getting someone who can do just that.
Carrasco is proven at the top level and at 29, is ready made to step straight into the side. Conte likes players like that, who he can trust and know he’s going to get the best from.
Of course, it means Spurs shelling out yet more money in January. But with them inside the top three and into the final 32 of the Champions League, Conte has every right to think he’ll be backed.
