Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about Manchester United in his latest YouTube upload and mentioned a number of players Tottenham were linked with.

Of course, Spurs and United were so active over the summer that there was always going to be some crossover. The Red Devils ended up signing Antony, who was linked with Tottenham early in the summer, while Spurs got Richarlison over the line, who had been credited with interest from Old Trafford before.

Another name Tottenham tried to sign was Atletico Madrid winger, Yannick Carrasco. As the window drew to a close this summer, reports surfaced to claim Tottenham were considering a £51m move for Carrasco. Of course, Spurs never quite got that deal done and were content with their summer business in the end.

But speaking on his YouTube channel this weekend, Romano has actually claimed that Carrasco could have long been out of Tottenham’s reach anyway. Covering a host of different names, Romano says that Carrasco was actually offered to United midway through August.

At the time, the Red Devils were scrambling around in the market to back Erik ten Hag and Romano claims Carrasco was one of 15 players to be offered to the Old Trafford outfit.

TBR’s View: Carrasco Would Do Well In England

There’s little chance of United signing Carrasco now they have brought Antony in and are seeing better performances from Jadon Sancho. However, we shouldn’t count Tottenham out at all.

Spurs are still on the lookout for someone to play that right wing-back role. Emerson Royal is doing well enough and Djed Spence was signed. But you only need to look at the impact Ivan Perisic has had on the other side to see how influential the right addition can be.

Carrasco is an ‘incredible‘ player and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see him mentioned on Spurs’ radar once more in January.
