Tottenham want Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Mancini previously raved about him

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan midfield star, Marcelo Brozovic, with reports suggesting both Spurs and Manchester United are interested.

As covered on TBR earlier today, reports from Gazzetta dello Sport claim the 66-cap Croatian star is on the radar of a number of clubs. Among them are Tottenham, Manchester United, and PSG.

Brozovic has built quite the career for himself over in Milan. He’s made 250 appearances for the Nerazzurri, winning the Scudetto in that time.

At 28, he’s in the prime years of his career. But his contract is due to expire in the summer, and Tottenham and United are sniffing.

Brozovic has recently won plaudits for big performances in Serie A, while he also stood out for Inter in the Champions League against Real Madrid a few weeks back.

But it’s comments from former Man City boss, Roberto Mancini, which will please Tottenham fans.

Mancini lauds Tottenham target Brozovic

Mancini was in charge of Inter during Brozovic’s time with the Italian side and the Croatian had immediately made an impression on him.

Back in 2016, a focus piece from FourFourTwo quoted Mancini praising the then 23-year-old midfield star.

“If Brozovic were to continue like this he would become one of the best,” Mancini said.

“We don’t want to sell him, even if faced with a great offer. He must work, but he has incredible quality.”

With Spurs hardly excelling this season, someone like Brozovic would certainly make sense in terms of a free-transfer signing.

And who knows, with Mancini’s backing, and Fabio Paratici’s connections in Italy, the North Londoners might just pull it off.
