Tottenham v Arsenal: Richarlison drops social media hint over whether he could feature in derby

Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has hinted on social media that he may be back for Spurs to take on Arsenal on Sunday.

Antonio Conte’s charges host their North London rivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a 4:30pm GMT kickoff.

Tottenham have picked up form over the past 10 days, winning their last two games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table, though they did drop two points last time out.

The Gunners played out a 0-0 draw at Newcastle in their first match of 2023.

Both sides also go into the derby on the back of wins against lower-league opposition in the FA Cup third round.

Now, it looks as though Tottenham may be getting a number of timely boosts.

Richarlison hasn’t played since the World Cup, having picked up an injury at the tournament in Qatar.

He struggled with injury before the international break too.

Richarlison missed four matches ahead of the Leeds match, Tottenham’s last competitive fixture before the World Cup.

‘Situations are improving’

On Friday, Antonio Conte provided an optimistic update on the fitness of Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

“The news is for sure the situation is going to improve, especially for Deki,” football.london quotes Conte as saying.

“He had a training session in the last few days with us. I think he is going to be ready to play.

About Richy and Rodrigo (Bentancur), also both situations are improving.

“I think in this moment Deki is much more ready to play and especially don’t take risk because for us it is very important to have patience, especially because these are important players for a long period.

“Now to accelerate the process to risk to recovery and to lose them for a long period again, is not good, is not positive.

“For this reason, we’ll see. We have another training session tomorrow to monitor the situation well about Rodrigo and Richy.”

Time to shine?

Richarlison went one step further, posting an update on Instagram which suggests his return to fitness is closer than previously thought.

The ‘incredible‘ forward posted a picture of himself celebrating a goal in the Champions League, alongside emojis of an hourglass and a starry-eyed face.

Is Sunday going to be Richarlison’s time to shine? Spurs fans will no doubt hope that’s the case.

With Tottenham looking to climb back into the top four and reclaim North London bragging rights, Richarlison would no doubt provide a huge threat against Arsenal.
