Report: Tottenham have tried multiple bids for 'incredible' player who Leeds wanted on deadline day
It’s hard to go through any transfer window without mentioning Adama Traore but here we are, already bringing him up with January three months away.
Traore’s name is nothing new when it comes to transfer speculation. Spurs are the club most linked with the Spanish international over recent seasons, while Leeds were also thought to be keen on signing the winger on deadline day as they agreed to let Daniel James leave.
However, it’s going back to that interest from Tottenham that brings today’s news. According to The Athletic, Spurs have tried to sign Traore ‘frequently’ in the last 18 months. Now, while the interest in Traore is nothing new, it does point to how desperate Spurs have been to land Traore. 18 months is a long time to pursue a player. Indeed, it would be no surprise to see him emerge as a name in January again.
For now, Traore remains at Wolves but is once again struggling to produce his very best performances under Bruno Lage. An underwhelming spell in Barcelona did him few favours, and it remains to be seen what his future holds.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are happy enough with their wing-back options. For now, anyway.
TBR’s View: Traore To Finally End Up At Tottenham?
It looks less and less likely now, in all honesty. There seems to have been a boat missed when it comes to Traore and Spurs. At one point it looked nailed on but right now, Traore is simply treading water while Spurs ride the big waves.
Ultimately, Traore needs to get back to his blistering best in order to attract interest again. Lauded as an ‘incredible‘ player in the past, there is certainly a player in there with Traore.
Whether or not that player is now good enough for Spurs, remains to be proven.
