Tottenham transfer news: Pedro Porro could join this week on one condition
It was another disappointing performance and result for Spurs as their season hangs in the balance.
Antonio Conte has made it clear that he would like to add more players to his squad in January.
The uncertainty surrounding his future at the club appears to also be having a negative effect.
A number of players don’t look up to the standard required to be playing for a top four team.
One position that has been an area of contention for some time is right wing-back.
The young Portuguese could finally solve the conundrum of who should play in that position.
Tottenham could sign Porro this week
The report suggests that Spurs will be able to sign Porro in the coming days if they meet his buyout clause.
That stands at £40m, which would make him the second-most expensive defender in Tottenham’s history, behind Cristian Romero.
Sporting’s club president made it clear that Porro wouldn’t be allowed to leave until they had played rivals Benfica this weekend.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with Porro playing the full 90 minutes.
Tottenham could now sign Porro with that important match out of the way.
There would be a lot of pressure on his shoulders to help turn the club’s fortunes around quickly.
Conte may be hoping his added energy could prevent their typically slow starts to matches.
