Nottingham Forest have now stolen a march on Tottenham after striking a transfer agreement.
Nuno Espirito Santo – who was sacked by Spurs in November 2021 – is working to improve his squad at the City Ground, with one deal now close to going through.
So, what is the situation involving Nottingham Forest and Tottenham? Let’s take a look…
Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham to Nikola Milenkovic
TBR Football exclusively revealed in June that Tottenham were keen to sign Fiorentina No.4 Nikola Milenkovic this summer.
Sources also informed us that Nottingham Forest were monitoring the Serbia international, and the Reds have now agreed a £12m deal with Fiorentina, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable Italian journalist claims that Milenkovic has been pencilled in for a medical at Nottingham Forest, and the deal will then be announced if all goes well.
TBR Football were also told that Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham wanted to sign the Serbian this summer as well as Tottenham, so Nottingham Forest have actually beaten several Premier League rivals to his signature.
The 26-year-old made 50 appearances in all competitions last season, helping Fiorentina reach the UEFA Conference League final.
Spurs already have an alternative in Ange Postecoglou’s squad
We didn’t quite understand why Tottenham were looking at Milenkovic anyway, as Ange Postecoglou already has a quality defender he isn’t starting – Radu Dragusin.
The Romania international – who David Moyes felt was one of the best performers at UEFA Euro 2024 this summer – only made four Premier League starts after arriving in a £26m January move from Genoa last season.

There have been suggestions that Dragusin is frustrated by his lack of starts, so Postecoglou would be wise to focus on integrating the Romanian before adding even more competition in the centre of defence.

Hopefully, the 22-year-old gets his chance to shine alongside Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero next season, the latter of whom made a surprising amount of fouls for Argentina at the Copa America this summer…
