David Moyes has named a Tottenham player amongst the best defenders at this summer’s Euros, alongside Arsenal star William Saliba.

Four Spurs figures were named in the final squads for Euro 2024 in Germany, with Micky van de Ven going the furthest as the Tottenham defender made it all the way to the semi-finals with the Netherlands, who were eliminated by England.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Denmark and Guglielmo Vicario’s Italy side also making it to the round of 16, Tottenham players overall did quite well at this summer’s Euros, even with no player making it all the way to the final.

Yet former West Ham manager Moyes has been greatly impressed by one Tottenham player this summer.

Moyes impressed by Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin at Euro 2024

Speaking to the Times, Moyes name-checked Radu Dragusin alongside the likes of Aymeric Laporte and the ‘outstanding’ Saliba amongst the defenders who have impressed the Scottish manager the most at Euro 2024.

Signed for £25m in the January transfer window, minutes have been hard to come by for Dragusin since joining Tottenham from Genoa at the start of 2024, with the Romanian international playing just 424 minutes of Premier League football.

Yet after Romania’s surprise run to the round of 16, things could change for Dragusin when he returns to north London, where the defender could compete with Van de Ven and Cristian Romero for a starting spot.

Indeed, this summer’s Euros has been perfect for Dragusin, with the 22-year-old defender showing the world what he’s capable of what Tottenham are missing out on in not playing the centre-back.

Dragusin needs a breakout season with Tottenham

International performances aside, it’s been a disappointing 2024 for Dragusin, who since moving to England has hardly kicked a ball with Tottenham despite showcasing just how good he can be in central defence.

And with Dragusin enjoying a great Euros with Romania, the youngster will want to return to north London this summer and make a huge push for a starting XI place for Tottenham, who can make an impression on Ange Postecoglou.

Indeed, Dragusin has shown at Euro 2024 that he has the potential to become a top defender, and if the former Genoa man can impress in pre-season, there’s a real chance that the Romanian international will feature for Spurs on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign.
