Tottenham Hotspur have perhaps been given further encouragement to make a future move for Milan Skriniar with the Spurs-linked centre-back producing a man of the match display against Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Reds booked their ticket to the last eight of the Champions League. However, the second-leg of their last 16 tie with Inter Milan was not as comfortable as they would have hoped after taking a 2-0 lead away from San Siro.

The only goal at Anfield came from the boot of Lautaro Martínez. And there may have been more tension had Alexis Sanchez not been sent off almost immediately after.
Ultimately, Liverpool had their chances to win the game. Mohamed Salah hit the post twice. Meanwhile, Luis Diaz was denied by an unbelievable block.
The effort from Arturo Vidal summed up some of Inter’s defending on the night.

Skriniar made one huge interception when Andy Robertson looked to have a simple task of crossing to one of three Liverpool players unmarked in the box during the second-half.
And remarkably, the 27-year-old made nine clearances, according to Whoscored. He was three clear of anyone else.
Skriniar display will not have escaped attention of Tottenham and Antonio Conte
The performance saw Skriniar named as the man of the match by UEFA. And it may have been a display that caught the attention of Antonio Conte.
Obviously, Conte was the manager who led the Nerazzurri to the Scudetto last season. But he is also keen on signing Skriniar.
Reports claimed that the £51 million-rated Slovakian was their top target in January. And they were ultimately unable to bolster their defensive ranks during the most recent window.
So a fresh move this summer could well be on the cards.
Skriniar was described as a ‘gladiator‘ following the first-leg.
And perhaps his showing in the second-leg could be what convinces Conte that Tottenham need to sign Skriniar this summer.
