'Tottenham are still pushing': Sky Sports journalist says Paratici is working hard to sign 'superstar' defender
It might have looked all over for Tottenham when it came to signing Alessandro Bastoni this summer, but things might yet turn out good for Fabio Paratici.
Bastoni is top of the list when it comes to Spurs and a new defender. The Italian is loved by Antonio Conte and in an ideal world, he is the player Conte wants bringing in this summer. It had, though, looked like Bastoni was staying put in Milan after his agent admitted his client was more than happy at Inter.
However, building on recent reports that suggested Spurs were still clinging onto some hope of signing Bastoni this summer, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has told Give Me Sport that Tottenham are very much still trying.
“The Bastoni one is a very interesting one because Tottenham are still pushing to sign Bastoni from Inter Milan. It should be said, Inter Milan do not want to lose him, and the agent has come out and said he’s happy at Inter Milan, he’s not going anywhere, but is that a screen where Inter Milan protect their investments so if they do sell, they get the maximum amount of money?” Sheth said
Tottenham have been as active as anyone this summer already. They’ve already signed the likes of Forster, Perisic, and Bissouma, and are expected to bring even more new faces in before August.
TBR’s View: Bastoni The Man For Tottenham But High Risk For Paratici
Do Tottenham wait around all summer and see if they can eventually prize Bastoni away? If there was a guarantee that he’d end up signing, then maybe so.
However, it’s risky for Spurs to do that and by the time a door might swing open for Bastoni, they might have lost out on other targets and end up with nothing.
Ultimately, that is the role Paratici was brought in to manage and he must ensured that Spurs get the right player, at the right time, this summer.
