Report: Don't rule Tottenham out of signing 'superstar' player just yet
Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to rule out the possibility of eventually signing Inter Milan defender and number one target, Alessandro Bastoni this summer.
This week, it’s seemed like Spurs have all but missed out on Bastoni. Despite being Antonio Conte’s number one target for his defence, Bastoni’s agent held a meeting with Inter this week and afterwards, told reporters that the Italian would be staying put.
However, things might not be over just yet when it comes to Tottenham and Bastoni. The Athletic has reported today how Spurs are clinging on in their hopes of landing the defender, with parallels drawn to the situation with Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku last summer.

It’s claimed Inter known they need to sell someone this summer and with the window only just opening today and the season two months from kick-off, Tottenham feel there is plenty of time for things to change. With that, The Athletic reports how Spurs could be ready to stay patient and wait for their chance to land Bastoni down the line.
For Bastoni and Spurs, then, it seems like the speculation is only just beginning, rather than ending.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Playing Risky Game Waiting For Bastoni
While Alessandro Bastoni is the main man in Tottenham fans’ eyes, there is a risk for the club in hanging around.
As time ticks by, the club will need to be sure they are going to get their man. They’ll likely have missed out on others in the meantime, and if they miss out on Bastoni altogether, could end up scraping the barrel for a new face.
So, while hope remains of Bastoni – who Fabrizio Romano said was a ‘guaranteed superstar‘ signing – joining Tottenham, Fabio Paratici is treading on thin ice really.
