Tottenham Hotspur still ‘like’ Leicester City star James Maddison and could revive their interest at the end of this season.

The 25-year-old Englishman, branded as a ‘sensational’ player, has long been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium. Newcastle United and Tottenham were both reportedly keen in the summer, but a move did not materialise.

Spurs were in the market for an attacking midfielder in the summer. Conte was keen to bring in a player who would add goals from the middle of the park, and Maddison was reportedly a key target.

The Leicester star entered the final two years of his contract in July. Although no move materialised before the window shut, there’s a good chance he’ll be on his way out of the King Power at the end of this campaign.

Jones has revealed that Spurs do like Maddison. The Englishman could well be of interest again to Conte’s side next summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “He’s a great player and he will have a decision to make over his future at the end of this season, I think.

“Tottenham do like him but they were not given any encouragement that he would be available for anyone to buy, so it was felt they had enough to get by for now.”

It’s very likely that Maddison will leave Leicester at the end of this season, especially if they get relegated.

The Foxes have had a shocking start to the Premier League this term. They’ve won none and lost six of their first seven games, and are currently stuck at the bottom of the table.

Maddison is Leicester’s prized asset, and it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll leave the club if they remain 20th and go down at the end of this season.

That could open the door for Tottenham to come in, but we’re sure there’ll be a lot of competition for Maddison’s signature if he’s on the market next summer.
