It’s a crucial January transfer window for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur, there’s no getting away from that.

And ahead of the busy month to come, a few targets are now emerging for Daniel Levy to pursue.

Jean-Clair Todibo is often mentioned as a viable option at the back – Tottenham are desperate to sign a centre-back.

And as well a defensive reinforcement, Spurs are also said to desire a midfielder and a forward to complete a successful window.

With that in mind, The Athletic have now been previewing the window to come for Ange Postecoglou.

And as well mentioning a possible deal for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, the report thought that former Celtic forward Jota could be feasible, too.

Jota hasn’t been playing for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, he’s not registered as one of their allotted foreign players.

Therefore a move could be ‘relatively uncomplicated’ for the £25m winger, and this report states that a loan move could suit all parties.

And although he’s previously impressed in Scotland, it does remain to be seen if Jota can reach the standard of a team pushing for Champions League qualification in England.

Jota could easily join Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham in January

Of course, there’s no one better placed to make that judgement than Ange Posteocoglou.

If Postecoglou wants to bring Jota to Tottenham in January, those at the club will probably trust his call.

The signing would surely be one driven by the manager’s relationship with Jota at Celtic, rather than the work of the scouting team.

It would certainly appear to be something of a relief for Tottenham in January if Postecoglou was able to achieve his first signing with little fuss.

Although he’s been heavily impressing in training, Bryan Gil doesn’t seem quite equipped to dovetail with the likes of Richarlison and Brennan Johnson at Spurs.

And whilst Jota may not be an immediate starter, he could prove crucial for the side as they rotate.

Moreover, when Tottenham do return to European football next year, something that now seems a given, Jota could play a crucial role.

It will be fascinating to see how Postecoglou continues to shape his Tottenham squad in January.

And getting Jota through the door early on would be a huge boost.
