Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling Liverpool to sign West Ham star Jarrod Bowen – and Harry Redknapp’s 2020 verdict will have fans excited.

Bowen, 24, joined West Ham in January 2020, since starring for the Hammers. After a tricky start, he massively improved in 2020-21.

Clocking up 38 Premier League outings despite competition from the likes of Jesse Lingard and Pablo Fornals, he clocked up 13 goal involvements.

This season, he has looked exciting in a West Ham side that look as though they are improving all the time. For £22m (Guardian), Bowen is a bargain.

The Independent claim this week that both Tottenham and Liverpool are considering moves for Bowen – and Redknapp is clearly a big fan of his.

“Bowen has been a great signing for West Ham,” Redknapp told Amazon Prime in December 2020, as per Hammers News.

“On that right hand side he works up and down. Tireless, unselfish work he does, good crosses. I think he was a really top signing for West Ham.”

Redknapp on Bowen: West Ham star ideal for Nuno’s Tottenham

Against Manchester City, Nuno Espirito Santo’s blueprint was on full show. The Portuguese boss loves to play on the counter attack, as he did at Wolves.

But in order to break with such speed, he needs attacking players that boast enormous pace. Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura; ideal.

Bowen is another example. Being English helps the homegrown quota, young, proven in the Premier League and already situated in London.

While he would be expensive, Bowen would be a brilliant addition not only to Tottenham – but he would be perfect for Nuno. Redknapp is right.
