Report: Tottenham eye 'brilliant' £60,000-a-week West Ham player
Tottenham have been monitoring West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen for a long while, according to the Independent. Liverpool and Leicester are also firm admirers of the Hammers star.
The Spurs interest seems pretty fresh, however, and West Ham may have a fight on their hands to keep their £20 million man.
Tottenham were beaten once again on Sunday. Chelsea scored three times in the second half to ensure a second successive week where Spurs have fallen apart.
Nuno Espirito Santo has work to do. Even at this early stage of the campaign, it seems clear Tottenham need better attackers alongside the likes of Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.
Bowen has been a man on a mission since checking in from Hull in January 2020. He has really grown as a Premier League player, scoring nine goals and claiming 11 assists from 59 appearances.
He registered his first goal contribution on Sunday, teeing up Said Benrahma to open the scoring against Manchester United.
Gary Neville has previously raved about Bowen. In December he called him a bundle of energy and brilliant to watch on Monday Night Football. (21/12; 7:56).
Tottenham could certainly do a lot worse, although he certainly wouldn’t come cheap to West Ham’s city rivals.
Would Tottenham be a good move for Bowen?
Right now, you’d have to say he’s better off at West Ham. He is playing Europa League football and getting in David Moyes’ team on a regular basis.
With Liverpool and Leicester also keen he could choose to hang fire with Tottenham something of a basket case right now.
Tottenham are considering an approach but ultimately the ball will be in the court of the Hammers as to whether or not they sell.
Bowen earns £60,000-a-week at the London Stadium and is clearly enjoying his football at the moment.
West Ham have considerable clout when it comes to keeping their stars these days and that could be bad news for Tottenham.
