Tottenham reportedly want Inter Milan star that Mourinho said is 'top of the top', just last week
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering moves for Inter Milan duo Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic this summer. Fabio Paratici is clearly hard at work already, trying to improve the Tottenham side – and Spurs fans will be excited by a verdict from Jose Mourinho on Brozovic.
Brozovic, 28, failed to make an impact on Sunday as England beat Croatia 1-0. Indeed, England’s midfield dominated against Croatia’s threesome of Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic and Brozovic. Kalvin Phillips was man of the match, while Declan Rice and Mason Mount also impressed.
But Brozovic is certainly a brilliant player. Joining Inter initially on loan in January 2015, he has since gone on to play 242 times for the Nerrazzuri. However, that could come to an end this summer – with Spurs interested. Brozovic has entered the last 12 months of his contract at Inter.
Inter Live have claimed that Spurs are ready to table a £40million double deal to net both de Vrij and Brozovic. Spurs certainly need another central midfielder, and a centre-back. Speaking to TalkSPORT over the weekend, ex-Inter and Tottenham boss Mourinho gave a glowing verdict of Brozovic.
“Brozovic is the top of the top. He’s a fantastic player,” Mourinho said, as quoted by TalkSPORT’s website over the course of the weekend. “Aggression but at the same time great technique and arrival in the box and coming from a more defensive position.”
Brozovic in, Sissoko out, would be brilliant business by Tottenham – amid Mourinho verdict on the Inter ace
Tottenham need a midfielder alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Moussa Sissoko started the season there, then Tanguy Ndombele got a go. He drifted out towards the end and was replaced by Gio Lo Celso, and then even Harry Winks. But none of those four did the role that Mourinho wanted.
Spurs need a progressive midfielder that is intelligent, box-to-box and equally effective in both boxes. One that is more attacking than Hojbjerg, more than defensive than Ndombele – and simply better than Sissoko. Brozovic would be the ideal addition.
