Tottenham have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race for Watford speed machine Ismaila Sarr. The report says Liverpool remain long-term admirers, while Spurs are the latest club to consider Sarr. Etienne Capoue’s 2020 verdict will have Tottenham fans excited about the potential of Sarr.
Sarr, 23, only joined Watford in the summer of 2019. A 34-time Senegal international, the winger was impressive in his first season in the Premier League despite the club eventually going down. He produced 11 goal involvements in 28 league games, scoring five and creating six more.
In the Championship, his form improved. In 39 league games, Sarr was involved in 23 goals – scoring 13 and creating 10. Eurosport say his form has Liverpool keen once again, but Spurs too. He will cost £50million. Ex-Spurs ace Capoue predicted he could be one of the Premier League’s best, in 2020.
“I knew about Ismaila from his time in France,” Capoue told Watford’s Twitter in 2020. “He will be a top player, he can be one of the best in the Premier League. He’s shy because he doesn’t speak English, but with us French speakers he’s really funny.”

Sarr would be a stunning Tottenham signing, amid Capoue prediction
Certainly, if Capoue’s comments are something to go by then Tottenham should be going all out to bring the former Rennes star to Spurs. Certainly, the last winger to swap Rennes for a Premier League club has done alright – in the form of Raphinha at Leeds United.
At £50million, he is expensive. But Spurs need to replace Gareth Bale on the right. Steven Bergwijn has been poor since joining Spurs, while Lucas Moura could be used on the left with Son Heung-min replacing Harry Kane at the moment. Sarr would be an excellent addition at Tottenham.
