Report: Tottenham are going to have to break their transfer record if they want to sign 27-year-old this summer
Tottenham Hotspur would need to pay a fee of around £69 million to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan this summer.
Antonio Conte has been looking closely at his former club as he looks to bolster his backline ahead of the new season.
A deal for Alessandro Bastoni appeared to be a priority for Conte but he has opted to stay at Inter.
That means that Spurs have been linked with Milan Skriniar, but face competition from mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham would need to pay £69 million for Skriniar
The Athletic report that the interest from the French champions has pushed the asking price for the 27-year-old to €80 million (£69 million).
That would be a huge stretch for Tottenham and would see them break their club record transfer fee if they got involved at that price.
Their current record is the £55 million they paid for Tanguy Ndombele in the summer of 2019, under Mauricio Pochettino.
Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso are the two most expensive signings in the club’s history, and neither man looks set to be part of Conte’s grand plan for success in his first full season in charge.
At that price, it seems like Tottenham would not get involved in the chase, especially with PSG able to offer a greater wage package.
That means that Spurs could be set for another disappointing end to their hunt for an Inter Milan central defender this summer.
But they have other options on their radar. Reports claimed that they are working on a deal with Villarreal involving Pau Torres and Lo Celso.
They have also been linked with Gleison Bremer, who is named in the report as someone Inter could go for if Skriniar goes to Paris.
