Tottenham want to sign a new midfielder in the summer and are keeping a close eye on Sebastien Szymanski.

Spurs are ready to go again in the summer and are well positioned in terms of FFP to spend some decent money to back Ange Postecoglou in the market.

After signing James Maddison in the summer, goalscoring midfielders have proven their worth at Spurs this season.

And according to reports from Turkey, Tottenham are lurking with intent to sign Fenerbahce star Szymanski,

Tottenham looking to sign Sebastian Szymanski

According to a report from Aksam, Tottenham are sitting on the edge of proceedings at the moment but are keen on signing Szymanski.

The report claims that a move to AC Milan is most likely at the moment. However, nothing has been set in stone and Tottenham and Napoli are keeping a close eye on developments.

Of course, we know from previous reports that Tottenham have already been in contact with the Turkish side over the Poland midfielder. Arsenal, too, are also thought to have let their interest be known.

Szymanski has been one of the stars of the Turkish league this season and has scored 12 and assisted another 14 in a fine campaign.

He’s available for around £26m, money that Tottenham will indeed have available to them this summer.

Tottenham need more quality

Ange Postecoglou hinted this weekend that he wants to get away from just challenging for the top four and instead, go for titles.

To do that, he’ll need more quality in his ranks and a player like Szymanski coming in would help.

The Pole has been tremendous for Fenerbahce and if anyone in Turkey has earned a big move this summer, he is one of them.

Tottenham will spend this summer and try to improve the squad. Szymanski, then, would be a solid addition and give someone like James Maddison that bit of added pressure to stay on his toes.
