Report: Tottenham ready to bid for 'outstanding' World Cup player ; offer needs to be over £30m
Tottenham are ready to put in a bid for Moroccan midfielder sensation, Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports from Italy this weekend.
Amrabat has been one of the stars of the show over in Qatar. His performances in the middle of the park have helped the north African side to the semi-finals, where they’ll now bid to beat France for a place in the final.
And according to Calciomercato, Tottenham are ready to make up for not going for Amrabat previously by launching a bid for the midfielder. CM claims that Spurs have watched Amrabat for some time and such is their regret, they are now preparing to finally bid.
It’s reported that Amrabat’s World Cup heroics have added a bit of value to his profile as well. CM claims that Fiorentina will now only entertain offers in the region of over £30m. That is up slightly on what previous reports have suggested. Sky’s Florian Plettenberg previously suggesting a deal could be done for around £26m.
Dubbed ‘outstanding‘ by an onlooking Joe Cole at this World Cup, Amrabat is a man in-demand. Liverpool are said to be keen on him as well.
TBR’s View: Amrabat has shown his class, Tottenham should pay up
There have been players in the past who have got themselves a move off the back of a good World Cup and it’s not panned out as planned.
However, with Sofyan Amrabat, you feel this is a player who can improve any team. His commitment, energy, and quality in the middle of the park is obvious. So even if the price is now more than £30m, it’s a price worth paying.
At Tottenham, Amrabat would be a good fit. Conte likes his midfielders to be all action and Amrabat ticks those boxes.
If a deal can be done here, then Spurs simply have to ensure they’re at least in the mix.
