Report: Tottenham hope Conte will convince 'fantastic' World Cup winner to sign next summer

Tottenham are putting themselves in the mix to try and sign World Cup winner and Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante, next summer.

Reports yesterday suggested Tottenham were keen on signing Kante, who is yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea and could leave the Blues for nothing next summer.

And building on yesterday’s reports, L’Equipe has now claimed that Kante and Tottenham shouldn’t be discounted due to the midfielder’s ongoing close relationship with Antonio Conte. Of course, the pair worked together at Chelsea when Conte led the London rivals to the Premier League title.

Kante, despite being key for Chelsea over recent seasons, doesn’t quite seem as high up the pecking order anymore, albeit Graham Potter’s appointment could change that. However, the Frenchman might well fancy a new challenge, with Conte’s presence at Spurs a potential factor.

Whether or not Tottenham can offer the terms to tempt Kante, however, remains to be seen. Likewise, Spurs will need to ensure they qualify for the Champions League places if they are to have any hope of signing Kante.

Dubbed as ‘fantastic‘ midfielder by TalkSPORT’s Darren Bent, Kante was a key player in the French squad that won the last World Cup back in 2018.

TBR’s View: Kante Would Change Tottenham For The Better

N’Golo Kante is one of the top Premier League midfielders we’ve seen in recent times and there is no doubt that even into his 30s he improves Tottenham.

Kante is a class act who walks into most teams in Europe when he’s fully fit so if Tottenham can use Conte to get him, then that’s great news for them.

Tottenham are likely to move for new players again in January and next summer and Kante, if they can get him, will be the ideal signing to improve things.
