Report: Spurs offer to swap £25m Pochettino signing for 'unreal' player, even though Conte rates him
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered four players to Wolves in their bid to land Adama Traore, including £25m signing Ryan Sessegnon.
According to TeamTalk, Spurs have offered Sessegnon, along with the likes of Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga, and Jack Clarke to Wolves in order to try and get a deal over the line. It’s claimed Spurs are open to any of the quartet leaving, either on a permanent basis or even on loan.
Players like Rodon and Clarke are not surprising names on the list. In fairness, neither is Tanganga, given he still has a long way to go before being an established Premier League defender. However, the inclusion of Sessegnon is more surprising. This is because Conte has spoken highly of the former Fulham man already, and has been including him of late.
“He has quality as a player with great power, he’s strong physically and he needs to take confidence. He needs to take confidence from the atmosphere and the stadium. Sess is a young player but if you stay in the Tottenham squad it means that you deserve to be here and you have to deserve this. He played a good game but he has to improve, like the other players,” Conte said earlier this season.
Traore, meanwhile, remains the number one option for Spurs at wing-back. Termed ‘unreal’ when he was linked to Liverpool last year, the Wolves man is in the final 18 months of his contract. Spurs are hoping to get Traore for around £20m or less.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Should Really Keep Ryan Sessegnon
While Traore is good, is it really worth Tottenham moving on a young player who hasn’t even had the chance to get going properly yet at the club?
They paid £25m for Sessegnon for a reason. On that front, there surely has to be a bit more patience with him. Of course, if Wolves took him on loan, then that might suit everyone.
