Tottenham now interested in signing winger with more goals and assists than Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son

While much is made of Tottenham Hotspur’s leaky defence, their attack is not necessarily firing on all cylinders as well.

Considering Ange Postecoglou plays a very attacking brand of football, the Spurs boss will also be questioning why his side are not more dangerous going forward.

But the numbers don’t lie about Tottenham’s flailing attack, with the Lilywhites scoring just seven goals in their last five outings.

Spurs are heavily reliant on Dejan Kulusevski, who looks burnt out to produce a moment of magic and bail them out in games. Tottenham are considering selling Heung-min Son, with the 32-year-old no longer looking like the world-class forward he once was as well.

As Tottenham look ahead to the summer transfer window, a player who has been linked with them is Feyenoord left-winger Igor Paixao.

Paixao is having a terrific season in the Eredivisie and most recently, he scored the winning goal in the Dutch giants’ shock 1-0 win against AC Milan in the Champions League.

Tottenham interested in signing Igor Paixao

Paixao, 24 is renowned for his technical ability, knack for taking on defenders and pace.

The Brazilian wideman is making waves in the Netherlands and perhaps it might be time for him to take the next step in his career.

Tottenham are ready to provide Paixao the platform to do so as they are interested in his signature, alongside North London rivals Arsenal — according to Calciomercato.

However, it will be tough to convince Feyenoord to offload their star man as his contract runs out in 2029.

The report states that the Rotterdam-based club are demanding a €30 million (£24.9 million) fee to sell Paixao.

But on the surface, the asking price is question is far from exorbitant for the former Coritiba forward.

Scout Jacek Kulig compared Paixao to Raheem Sterling back in 2022.

The Macapa-born attacker’s strengths were described as his acceleration, dynamism, ball control, flair and agility.

Based on the statistics, Paixao is outperforming two of Tottenham’s best wide players in both Kulusevski and Son this season.

The Tottenham-linked star has eight goals and 14 assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Kulusevski has registered 19 goal involvements (nine goals and 10 assists) while Son has 18 to his name (10 goals and eight assists) to his name.

Paixao looks like the real deal but whether Tottenham feel that is the case and go all out to secure his services will be intriguing to discover in due time.
