Moises Caicedo prompting Joel Ordonez to sign for Chelsea

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Moises Caicedo has encouraged Chelsea to make a move for Ordonez.

Caicedo firmly believes that his countryman has what it takes to become a top-class defender in the English top-flight.

But apart from Chelsea, the other Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign Ordonez are Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The highly-rated youngster was already on the radar of several sides before his move to Club Brugge in 2022, where he has looked like the real deal.

TBR Football understands that a deal for Ordonez is being closely looked at by intermediaries,.

The Ecuadorian colossus starred in Club Brugge’s 2-1 win against Atalanta in the Champions League.

TBR Football have been told that Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton were all present to watch Ordonez in action as he impressed on the big stage again.

Despite being such a young prospect, the Guayaquil-born wonderkid has already been compared to world-class players.

Joel Ordonez has been compared to Antonio Rudiger

In 2022, Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig likened Ordonez to Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger.

Ordonez was described as a “complete and dominant” defender as well, whose strengths are his pace, power, tackling, anticipation, bravery, athleticism and heading.

Whether Caicedo has worked his charm to ensure his countryman heads to Stamford Bridge or one of Liverpool, Tottenham, West Ham or Brighton end up signing will be intriguing to see.
