Tottenham got their Premier League campaign off to the perfect start yesterday and are now confident of signing Destiny Udogie as well.
According to Football London, Spurs are confident they can get a deal done for Udogie in the next few days. It’s expected that the club will pay around £22m for the Italian wing-back, before then allowing him to spend the rest of the season back on loan with Udinese.
Antonio Conte is said to have personally told Fabio Paratici to wrap a deal up for Udogie. However, with both Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic competing at left wing-back this season, there is little chance 19-year-old Udogie would get much game time this season. A loan back in Italy, then, makes sense.

For Spurs, Udogie’s arrival would mean it’s seven summer signings through the door this window. Conte has been backed by the Spurs board to the tune of over £100m, and Udogie – like Djed Spence – is seen as an exciting prospect for the future.
Tottenham hammered Southampton yesterday as Ryan Sessegnon, Dejan Kulusevksi, and Eric Dier all got themselves on the scoresheet in north London. Udogie, meanwhile, was left out of Udinese’s first game of the season.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Continuing To Build With Udogie Signing
This is smart business from Tottenham, it really is. They’ve signed players this summer who can make an immediate impact on the first XI but it’s important they build for the future too.
Udogie is right up Conte’s street with his playing style as well. Quick, full of energy, and willing to get up and down the wing, the teenager certainly has the potential to really suit a Conte team.
£22m might seem a lot for a player who isn’t going to play much in the coming 12 months or even beyond that. But football can be about long-term investments too, and Udogie is that for Tottenham.
