'Extraordinary' player left out of club's first squad of season, amid talk he's now set to join Tottenham
Tottenham could be moving closer to sealing the signing of Udinese star Destiny Udogie, after he was left out of tonight’s squad to face FeralpiSalo in the Coppa Italia.
Talk has gathered pace this week when it comes to Udogie signing for Spurs. It was claimed just in midweek that Antonio Conte had indeed instructed Fabio Paratici to go out and sign the Italian youngster. It was claimed in that report that Udinese wanted Udogie back on loan, something Spurs are said to be open to.
And now, a move would appear to be edging closer, with Udinese’s squad for this evening’s clash not including Udogie.
The defender is said to be keen on signing for Tottenham and he would be yet another young full-back to arrive at the club following the arrival of Djed Spence from Middlesbrough. Udogie, described as an ‘extraordinary‘ by Gabriele Cioffi, is certainly one for the future.
However, unlike Spence’s arrival, Udogie seems to be a player who Antonio Conte has personally endorsed. The 19-year-old is though to be nearing a £21m move to Tottenham, who will take their spending way past the £100m mark with his arrival in North London.
TBR’s View: Udogie Another Player To Improve Tottenham’s Squad
There is signing players for the here and now which is vital, and there is signing players for the future which is just as important to Tottenham.
Udogie is clearly a player Conte and Paratici have had eyes on for some time now. The 19-year-old, can clearly play and under Conte’s guidance, he would no doubt be a star of the future.
The loan back to Udinese might still happen, but the fact Udogie has been left out of tonight’s squad means that it looks more likely than ever that Spurs will indeed complete this deal.
